Most of us agree with recent letter writer Larry Tracy’s wish that prominent people would only engage in “honest speech”.  Unfortunately, he’s asking a lot from his chosen Presidential candidate.  Mr. Trump came to fame in the Republican Party in 2011 by reemphasizing what was then the big lie that Barack Obama wasn’t born in the U.S.  It got him interviews on Fox and right-wing radio shows and introduced him to the people that would become his base.  It wasn’t until September of 2016 he rather brusquely admitted “President Barack Obama was born in the United States, period.”  That big lie ended but it had already proven riding a lie could help him accomplish his objectives.  He’s riding one now.  It sounds like Mr. Tracy is part of the 34% of Americans who believe the Capitol riot was a false flag and most Republicans who believe Trump won the election.  These even bigger lies can do real damage to our country long before Mr. Trump develops a fondness for “honest speech”.
